Narendra Modi is riding on a popularity wave if Gujarat Election Results 2012 are to go by. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is marching ahead to victory – possibly two-third majority. As per the latest trends at 10.20 am available for 177 of the total 182 seats, the BJP is ahead in 108 seats while the Congress is doing well only in 64 seats.
Keshubhai Patel of Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) is among the four candidates of the party who are leading in early trends. Others are heading in one seat.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi is leading from Maninagar against Shweta Bhatt of the Congress. Just as the counting of votes began, Modi wrote on Twitter: “No need of looking behind, FORWARD! We want infinite energy, infinite courage, infinite patience…”

An emphatic victory for Narendra Modi will mean that the chorus within the BJP for a bigger role in the party’s national affairs will grow.
If the BJP ends up bettering its 2007 tally of 117 seats, Modi may very well become the face of the BJP for 2014 general elections.
The voting was spread across two phases – Dec 13 and 17 with record 71.32 percent voters casting their ballot.
